Umecrine Cognition is developing golexanolone, a drug candidate that affects the GABA system in the central nervous system. The most advanced development is focused on patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) who suffer from significant fatigue and cognitive symptoms – problems that currently lack effective treatment.
The company’s ongoing randomised phase 1b/2a study has enrolled its last patient. The phase 2a part includes a total of 99 patients and study results are expected in the second half of 2026. Golexanolone is also being evaluated for continued development in, among other things, Parkinson’s disease.
In brief:
- 99 patients included in the phase 2a part
- Over 30 clinics in Europe and Turkey
- Study results expected H2 2026
